Finding peace…
Living in urban cities, “I need mental peace!” is a common phrase which we often encounter. At times, we ourselves utter them. What exactly is this mental peace? Does it simply mean a moment of sheer quietness or is it an illusion which eludes each one of us. Peace is something which needs the mind to simply stop thinking for a while and absorb the beauty of silence within our own self. I have seen people going on vacations in search of peace, but certainly if one wants to find peace it can be found in the midst of a crowd as well. The place can even be a crowded local train or a bustling market place. I couldn’t find peace in a closed room even when there was no noise at all, nor did I find peace going on a mountain top as the thoughts residing within the mind kept haunting. It’s all in our minds to help ourselves and attain it.
My office is just adjacent to a creek from where I gaze at the setting sun at end of every day. The sky above exhibits a beautiful horizon of different shades of sunshine and blue hues. Lost in the fascination of the sky I often turn a deaf ear to the screaming voices inside my head. Moments ago my mind would be flooded with worries and concerns relating from career till dinner and all of a sudden I lose myself in this sudden tranquility of the nature. It wasn’t long that I made it a habit of gazing through the skies everywhere. Its fascinating to see the brush of clouds painting the blue canvas of the skies with raw strokes of its own. This is where I believe one can find the much eluded mental peace.
Its indeed an irony that we wander places in search of something, whilst some of the best things just lie above us. We are blessed with a wonderful nature, there is just a need to look up and embrace it!
Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.
